How Nigerians should prepare for the future, post covid19

So earlier in May, I was a guest on Armed Forces Radio. Via telecall (from my home), that is. We spoke about Nigerians preparing for the future, post #Covid19 pandemic, govt implementing Oransaye which calls for reforming the Ministries and Agencies of govt, and how an individual should brace up. Thanks Chinyereugo Ugwuegbu for having Me.

The highlights of my response were that;

1. We need to start investing more in
therapy and counselling because of the looming mental health issues occasioned by the lockdown. Nigerians should embrace therapy. It's nothing to be ashamed of.

2. Jobwise, it's important now to start matching skills with demand (investing in TVET). Employers and job seekers should look closely into this so that people are not just employed to do a job they are not skilled in.

3. The future of education has changed, schools should find innovative online and offline solutions to ensure the education jap is filled.

4. On implementing the Oransaye report, govt should not fire people haphazardly; if proactive measures had been taken from the onset to make the ministries more fit for purpose, it would not have had the kind of problems it's having today. Ghost workers should be fished out rather, and the reform should follow the regulations guiding each ministry/agency. Firing people anyhow now will cause a lot of mental distress on the individuals concerned, which will have a ripple effect on their families.

5. People in the beauty industry should start rethinking their strategies. As most people are indoors having their meetings online, there will be more demand for natural, relaxed makeup and fashion choices that are comfy smart. Masks are hiding lipsticks; the choices of lipsticks and foundations have to be checked. There will be more emphasis on eye makeup.

6. Businesses which leveraged an online presence and have the one-customer mindset will thrive. They are the ones that took their time to collect the contact details of their customers in order to sell directly to them.

7. According to Charles Schwab at the WEF some years ago, "we are in the 4th  industrial revolution" so it is very important now more than ever, to be skilled in digital marketing and networking in order to be a truly connected individual, reaching out beyond borders.

8. The days of calling someone a jack of all trades, master of none, are over. If you arm yourself with skills and continue to reinvent yourself, you're will hardly be jobless for a day in your life.

Find your talents and discover your earning potentials

I believe everyone was born with a talent; yet m any people die without activating them .   As children we are loaded with our true personalities, our calling and a deep connection to the creative force. But as we grow older, we tend to forget who we were as children and who we are created to be.   In pursuit of academic qualifications, climbing up the career ladder, or competing with others, we often forget that life is filled with endless possibilities and we all came into this world alone, with special gifts - our talents - something we are very good at, that comes naturally to us . Our gift and service to humanity. Most successful people who walked this earth; regardless of being early or late bloomers, their background, physical or mental abilities or the period they lived, have one thing in common – they

Las Las, It Shall Be Well..... #GlobalCitizen

First published March 25 2020.  Behind every disappointment is a blessing.... Have we been too busy to take care of our spiritual, mental or physical health? To connect with our friends, know our children, their needs or talents? Too busy to care? Too busy for family, love, romance, sex, friendships, relationships or simply knowing our neighbours? Too busy to have fun or take on that personal project we've been putting off for  years? Now may be the best time to stop and reflect on our lifestyle. The world is at a standstill. It happens once in a lifetime. Many of us are less busy, uncertain. Businesses are closing for a while - we don't know for how long. The kids are home...
