Passing the Baton; Breaking the Glass Ceiling: Dewdrop Foundation Celebrates International Women's Day 2020

Speaking to the media, I reiterated my key message that gender equality should not be about competition between men and women but about how men and women should complement one another as partners in development. In this regard, the messages about gender equality should be clear and devoid of ambiguity. "We need to be understood and we need male gender advocates on our side", I said.
Thank you Lord for making it happen!🤗
We celebrated the International Women's Day on 5th March, 2020 with the key message of passing the baton and breaking the glass ceiling. The special guests, 3 globally recognised women from 3 different generations, shared inspirational messages to the younger generation, about their journeys to success and breaking the glass ceiling.
They gave words of hope and guidance to making it, in a world of several development challenges facing the youth......

"To achieve optimum development, men and women need to be partners" - Agatha Nnaji (Executive Director of Dewdrop Foundation, and host).
"I am generation equality is not about feminism or antagonism, it is about partnership and synergy.... I am passionate about investing in the boy child" - Dayo Benjamin-Laniyi.
"When I was younger, I had an internal shyness, but Madam Agatha had confidence in me" - Dayo Benjamin Laniyi (ace PR and media specialist).
"I AM is about BECOMING. Who are you? BECOMING must take cognizance of male and female partnership.... We must know about life cycle management... To know where you are headed, you need to know where the rain started beating you" - Regina Amadi-Njoku (former United Nation Assistant Secretary General).
"Young people should no longer accept to be called the FUTURE of Nigeria. You are the NOW of Nigeria.... In spite of all the sad news around Nigeria, something good still came. I made it. I f I can, you can" - Eleanor Nwadinobi (first Nigeria President of the international association of female doctors)

Before you buy that Valentine's gift, read this

Ever had the experience of spending weeks or even months preparing for Valentine’s Day and buying what you felt was the perfect gift, and as the days build up to that romantic and sensual moment, BAM! Something happens and you break up. The gifts are either stuck with you or you hate yourself for gifting them out in the first place to someone you would now call an asshole? The season of love is here again, a time for sharing, exchanging gifts and most definitely spending. Have you ever noticed that a lot of time and money goes into planning to get our loved one(s) and partner(s) the best Valentine’s Day gifts, and that many-a-time, we end up buying the wrong gifts or indulging in irrelevant spending?  Valentine’s Day is expensive and millennials are the biggest spenders, followed by the generation before them.

#EndSARS, Women, Peace and Security

Nigerian women have not spoken loud enough against the attacks on the #EndSARS protesters (a peaceful protest which is now being criminalized), or about related atrocities currently going on in Nigeria. Clearly, Nigeria has failed our young generation. What hopes do young people have in a country which sees youths as threats rather than opportunities for development? Their opinions don't count when it comes to nation building but when it comes to elections, they become relevant for adding up the numbers and for thuggery.
